Recipe Name Walnut Bars

Ingredients 8 oz softened butter
10 oz granulated sugar
11 oz all-purpose flour
Pinch of Salt
1 egg, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
7 oz coarsly chopped walnuts
Preparation Preheat the oven to 350F

Butter a 13 x 9 inch baking pan

Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer at high speed until creamy

Mix in the flour, salt, egg yolk and vanilla until well blended

Firmly press the mixture into the pan to form a smooth even layer

Use a fork to beat the egg white lightly and brush over the base

Sprinkle with the walnuts

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until just golden

Cut into bars while warm
