Recipe Name Onion Biscuits
Difficulty Level Medium
Traditional food from Anywhere
Ingredients 3 cups self-raising flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 very small onion (or two spring onions) - grated
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
2/3 cup milk, warmed
Preparation Switch on oven and set to 400F

Add flour, salt and baking powder to a large bowl, and mix well.

Add the grated onion and continue mixing to ensure even distribution of the onion throughout the mix.

Mix in all the shortening (needs to be warm) until the mixture has the consistency of thick bread crumbs.

Now add the warm milk, stirring continuously to form a dough that doesn't stick to the sides of the bowl.

Remove from bowl, place on floured board and kneed well for about 5 minutes. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Lightly oil a baking sheet. Shape the dough into balls (about a dozen) , and place on a lightly oiled baking tray.

Flatten each ball slightly to form a doughnut shape.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Serve immediately.
